Sector 5 Band Strikes a Chord!

In January, staff from 866 (Immingham) Squadron and 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron joined forces at Halifax Barracks to unite budding musicians and beginners alike under one roof to form the Sector 5 Band, with cadets present from 152, 866, and 1324 Squadrons.

The goal is to provide opportunity to draw on existing squadron routines and share that knowledge to create a standardised sector repertoire that enables squadrons and the wider sector to draw on a greater pool of musicians for annual events, as well as providing additional opportunities to perform with friends from other units.

The training day saw a team of drummers join bell lyres and a saxophonist to learn a few initial routines and ultimately play together.

If you’re interested in learning, even if you’re a complete beginner, we’d be delighted to welcome you to the team.  We are also happy to support cadets from across sector boundaries, so please ask your squadron staff to reach out to oc.1324@rafac.mod.gov.uk and we’d be happy to add your unit to our monthly practice notice.  We plan to meet on the third Sunday of each month to ensure regular and predictable practice opportunities.
