Cadets Receive Blackburn Scholarship
We recently learned that some of our cadets (Cadet Brian Le ,Cadet Corporal Harry Atkinson, Cadet Corporal Zack Sveinsson, and Cadet Sergeant Reuben Quinnel) have received BAE Systems scholarships in the name of none other than our unit’s namesake — Mr Robert Blackburn. We asked the cadets to tell us a little bit about their experience so far, and what it is they’re trying to achieve…
For this project we are making a environmentally sustainable lamp. We will keep in mind costs (for developing countries) and we have achieved this by making this lamp solar powered, made in a kit using recycled / recyclable materials, E.G cans, and bottles, and made out of cheap materials such as 3D printing and using other components such as LEDs. It will also come in our own designed packaging with instructions and our own logo.
“When I started the BAE scholarship I knew I was in for a good time. Every lunch time I get to spend time with my good friends who are also in cadets, planning and coming up with ideas for our current project. We will then get to meet the Blackburn family and present our project in London.“
- Cadet Corporal Harry Atkinson
“Ever since I started my BAE scholarship it’s been really interesting. I get to spend some time with my friends doing something I love, also giving me something to keep me busy on a Monday lunchtime. We've been designing, drawing, and creating logos and blueprints for our first ever prototype of our light bulb for BAE systems. Currently we are preparing to test our designs and ideas and bring it to life“
- Cadet Brian Le
We wish all the cadets the best of luck with their final presentations!
