Emily Turns Aerospace Instructor

On the 25th of February, Emily attended the Basic Aviation Course. Her last visit to the Wing Aerospace Centre (WAC), based in Harrogate, was as a new cadet in 2022, and so she was very excited to return as a member of the WAC’s staff team.

The day commenced at 1000hrs and began with the team delivering the Blue Ground School Package, which consisted of a theoretical lesson and then a practical, where cadets practised exercising precise control over a glider (the Grob Viking) and a powered aircraft (the Grob Tutor), before conducting circuit flying in both. The day concluded with some fun flying on the fast jet simulators and learning what future aviation opportunities were available in the RAF Air Cadets.

“The day was brilliant, as not only did I get to teach younger cadets on the simulators but I also got to develop my own skill set, both in instruction and by improving my aviation knowledge. I would like to thank the whole team for making me feel so welcome and showing me a myriad of new things. I look forward to when I next attend and cannot wait to develop my skills further!”

The Wing Aviation Officer, Squadron Leader Adam Waudby being characteristically welcoming.

“The staff and fellow instructors were welcoming and friendly and there was a positive and enjoyable environment.”
