Megan Tries Adventure Training!

1324 Squadron’s adjutant, Ms Megan Roberts spent the weekend testing her limits as she experienced some adventurous training (or “AT” for short).

Over the weekend of the 17th/18th of February, Megan joined the North Region AT Staff Development Course with a view to experiencing the various activities available within the organisation, and learning how she could pursue further training and qualifications, which would later permit her to instruct cadets.

Those sampled on this weekend were rock climbing and mountain leadership.

The weekend was full of leadership development opportunities, the need for courage (conquering a fear of heights!), perseverance (climbing 3 mountains in one day) and lots of laughter.

“This is the beginning of my journey to becoming qualified in some awesome activities so I can bring these opportunities back to the cadets on my squadron and in the wider area.

“It turns out you have to be mindful who you belay for when rock climbing... Pick a heavier partner and you could take off when they start abseiling!”

For those of you who could be interested, other available activities include: paddlesports, mountain biking, and night navigation!
