The cadets also got to go into the control tower at RAF Leeming and spoke with the staff in the tower and learnt about the airfield and how they control it, and also got to watch some Swiss F-18 Hornets take-off.

“This experience can only be described as once in a lifetime”

- Cadet B. Le

If that wasn’t enough, the lucky cadets then visited the Qatari Hawk T2s. There, they were shown around the aircraft and cockpit, and were talked through how the controls worked. They were also taught about the service history of the aircraft, which is currently in service as a trainer jet in the RAF.

“The hawks were really something and definitely my favourite part of the day.”

- Cadet H. Turner-Hazel

Lastly, the cadets were invited to the Swiss hangers where they saw F-18 Hornets up-close. Overall, the cadets really enjoyed their time at RAF Leeming and cannot wait to go back whether it is with cadets or as a member of the RAF.

“This is a unique experience that we would definitely recommend to all cadets, aspiring pilots, and aviation enthusiasts alike.”

- Cadet H. Turner-Hazel
