Cadets Launch Skyward!

On the 8th of June, 2024 cadets from 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron flew skyward at RAF Syerston, some for the first time! Some were clearly nervous, having heard that a winch launch can feel a little bit like a high-speed rollercoaster!

“Once my feelings of anxiousness and anticipation subsided, I launched and was able to get some amazing pictures and videos and I would definitely go again the next chance I get.”

But it wasn’t everyone’s first time, and Cadet Corporal Grace Kenny really enjoyed the opportunity of spending a day with cadets from other squadrons.

“This was my second time gliding with cadets and I find it gets more exciting each time! It was a windy day with perfect conditions which made for smooth flights. I got to learn about the primary controls and the forces which allow a glider to fly. All in all it was a very fun day and I would definitely recommend it to others!”
