1324 Squadron Visit the Wing Aerospace Centre
On the 22nd of October, 2023 junior cadets from 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron visited the Wing Aerospace Centre in Harrogate, where they learned about the basics of flight.
Visiting the Wing Aerospace Centre for a crash(less) course in the principles of flight, control surfaces, and both powered and un-powered flight, cadets from 1324 Squadron were taken from the very basics, all the way up to experiencing the pace of a fast jet sortie, all while using the excellent simulator set-up to enhance their learning and sense of immersion.
An intensive day saw one cadet, who had never seen an aircraft up close, leave tired but incredibly excited about a future of flying with the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.
There is no doubt that the Wing Aerospace Centre has huge value as a way to educate and prepare cadets ahead of their first flights, so they can focus on enjoying the moment, rather than being overwhelmed by too much information.
Afterwards, Cadet Morgan’s parents said: “he absolutely loved it!”.
